The rust was evident as Fowlerville hosted Hartland for the season opener for both teams but the Eagles managed to shake it off a bit better than the Gladiators to come away with a 33-15 victory Tuesday evening.
The first quarter saw neither team be able to effectively put the ball into the hoop as early on but as the quarter progressed Hartland was able to find the bottom of the net and took an 11-0 lead into the second quarter.
The second quarter was more of the same from a scoring standpoint with Fowlerville mustering five points while holding Hartland to only three cutting the Eagles lead to 14-5 at the half.
The second half did see Hartland pick up the scoring effort somewhat as the Eagles dropped in twenty points but Fowlerville struggled to only record ten points leading the the 33-15 final.
Leading scorers for Hartland were Brin Neuer with 16 points and Kendall Nokovich with 7 points on the evening. Fowlerville was paced by Izzy Cox’s 6 points.
The Eagles take the hardcourt next on Adrian Madison Thursday night in Adrian while Fowlerville will work to pick up their first win for new coach Jackie Jarvis as they travel to Lansing Eastern Friday night as part of a double header with the boys program.
